Summit County Tax Workshop

At GLS, Inc. we actively participate in our local community of Summit County, Colorado. In the spring of 2009 and 2010 we offered free tax preparation those individuals who needed our assistance and fit the following parameters.

Free Tax Help for Seniors
Tax season can be a daunting and overwhelming time for many residents, and Dillon based GLS tax consulting is looking to ease the burden with free tax help for seniors and low income residents.

"The whole idea came about when I remembered how excited and thankful my own grandmother was when I was able to do her taxes for her," said Geoffrey Stacey, a certified public accountant.  "I wanted to provide this service to people who find it challenging and might not know where to get help."

The free help will be limited to only those using Form 1040 and Schedules A and B, and for individuals who have been Colorado residents for all of 2008.

Full time Summit County residents earning $20,000 or less in total income also are eligible for free tax service.

"We feel like this is a great service to provide for our seniors, and it’s even better because there is no cost," said Dennis Nemura, a board member at the senior center. "We want to give them any help we can with the very complicated tax structure we have."

Other nationwide programs, such as the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and Tax Counseling for the elderly, have had tremendous success helping those in need, and Stacey hopes his firm’s program can address the local need.

"People in Summit County are always ready and willing to help others, so this is my way to give back," Stacey said.  "This is something that benefits the community at large, and it’s just a matter of donating our time."
